ASEAN HEADS OF MISSION CONDUCT SOLIDARITY VISIT FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Rabat - The heads of mission of the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) accredited to Morocco carried out a solidarity visit on Tuesday in Rabat/ to the Soufaraa Saada Association for Children with Special Needs, with the aim of expressing their support for the children and promoting the values of solidarity and social inclusion.

The delegation included the heads of mission of six ASEAN member countries, namely Leslie J. Baja, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines; Fabio Chinda, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand; Dato' Shahabudeen Bin Adam Shah, Ambassador of Malaysia; Le Kim Quy, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Yuyu Sutisna, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia; and Nur Hafizah Al-Islam Binti Awang Mahani, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Brunei.

The diplomats toured the various facilities of the Association, as well as workshops organized during the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan for the benefit of the children, including activities such as coloring, cooking, and beauty workshops intended for young girls.

The delegation also discovered the different educational activities and support programs implemented by the Association with the aim of fostering the development and well-being of the beneficiary children.

In a speech on the occasion, the Ambassador of Vietnam, Le Kim Quy, in her capacity as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Rabat, stated that this visit is an opportunity to express the solidarity of the regional group’s missions toward these children and to reaffirm their shared commitment to promoting social inclusion and human dignity.

She also praised the efforts made by the Soufaraa Saada Association and its partners to strengthen equal opportunities for children with disabilities by creating spaces that nurture their talents and by offering concrete opportunities for integration and fulfillment within society.

For his part, the President of the Association, Mounir Missour, emphasized that this visit, which embodies the values of solidarity and mutual support among peoples, aims to strengthen assistance and support for children with disabilities.

He added that the presence of the ASEAN ambassadors reflects a growing interest in this social category and provides a valuable opportunity for the exchange of experiences and expertise in the field of social and humanitarian action.

The visit concluded with a ceremony during which symbolic donations from ASEAN were presented to the children and their families, illustrating the spirit of human solidarity characteristic of the holy month of Ramadan.
